Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Live coverage features live text for Sunday's games via multiple platforms, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard on select stations covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week of the football calendar , following last week's talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, each surrendered their perfect starts.
Striking in those games was the amount of penalties both committed. Philadelphia did so at crucial times so they essentially beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns entering the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, set to play overseas this weekend.
However it was positive to see that Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to overcome the shortfall before lead three successful possessions on three possessions during the final period, securing the game 21-17.
The Broncos have the defensive player of the year in cornerback their star corner. They are number one in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, and the Broncos prevailed in that contest.
They had effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They weren't always rushing extra defenders but they might plug two linebackers in the interior then withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel off the edge.
At the start in the campaign, we said on a program how Denver could be the current year's surprise contenders. They finished last season well and did a good job of building upon that.
Could Denver be this year's underdog story?
Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has excelled big while recent running back JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks fifth in the NFL in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).
I love that head coach Sean Payton displays "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates that the Broncos are a team that wants to prioritize the run, because you can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush while keeps you in favourable situations.
It's also helped QB the young passer, who entered into the league as a first-round selection last year, throwing 29 TDs – just behind Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 in 2020).
Other elite QBs have powerful arms to pass all over, but they lack in the same way that Nix has. He has incredible arm talent, a unique trait, and he is so athletic.
His assets include his movement, being able to pass on the run, and using different arm angles to make the pass when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He is able to throw that layered pass across the middle or over the corner.
As a rookie QB, at 25, he displays a lot of poise in the pocket and isn't really fazed by the blitz. He aims to evade a sack as much as possible and can throw under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and is very decisive.
When you consistently run the ball it eats up time and makes the opponent to stay on the field for longer, and when you have a mobile QB the defence has to defend the area vertically side to side. It can be draining.
The quarterback has bitten back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and I think Payton likes that attitude, seeing him as a fierce rival. I think it's exciting for him to coach a young quarterback who's similar to moldable clay. He can really develop him the way he wants to build it. I believe it's a special experience for the coach.
Payton has won a championship and now passed a legend in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. I think the success Denver are having offensively is largely down to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix helps make him into who he is.
There's no better a more qualified person guiding you, to assist you during some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.
I believe in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they strong enough to face an elite team at its best? Because that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.
Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're performing better than most, which is a solid position to be in the AFC West. The key is to continue this trajectory.
They excel at leaning into their strength, that is the ground game, and that's exactly what they should do against the New York Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.
The Jets have allowed 140 yards on the ground each contest (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (10th worst), and they're the sole squad without a win any game.
Ever since the league started recording takeaways in 1933, the Jets are the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway in five outings, which is kind of shocking when you think that the head coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.
The Chiefs' QB stated Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' after a recent loss to Jacksonville.
Following the upcoming matchup, Denver face a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In their division, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the division.
This hinges upon what version of the Chiefs they meet because Denver {beat|def
