Stateside actor Pat Finn, who featured in iconic TV shows including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.

The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in Los Angeles on Monday having undergone treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, per news outlets.

"He considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his family stated in a message.

They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".

A Notable Television Career

His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.

He also had a regular part on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He played the part of Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, portraying a social organizer who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several popular shows, including:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

His most famous role for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.

His cinematic roles encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Beyond the Screen

Away from his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a faculty member.

He was a member of a comedy group of six called Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired many learners throughout the years and it would be difficult to find someone who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

Offering condolences, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he posted publicly.

The actor is remembered by his spouse Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
