Trump Welcomes Relatives of Shot Guard Personnel to White House
Former President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.
He added that he contacted her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.
Background on the Devastating Incident
US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.
Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Memorials across the state have taken place in their remembrance.
Presidential Call
The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president addressed journalists. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”
Public Reaction
Attendees gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.
Both they had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s national effort to aid law enforcement in the capital.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the type of pupil that teachers wished for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the media. “She was kind, considerate and always eager to assist people.”
Funeral plans for Sarah are still being arranged.
Judicial Measures and Policy Changes
Officials have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The incident caused the government to pause refugee claims and halt providing entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the Associated Press.
He remains under medical supervision and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Morrisey stated on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she also intended to speak to the family.
Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with honor, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had courage,” the governor addressed the audience at the memorial. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
